CUB RUN, Ky. — A heartbreaking ending has shaken the community of Cub Run, as Kentucky State Police (KSP) confirmed the tragic death of 5-year-old Silas Chearer, who went missing Tuesday morning.
An IAN (Immediate Alert Notification) was issued around 8:35 a.m., sounding across cell phones in the region after Silas was reported missing from his home. Silas, who was autistic and considered to be in potential danger, had reportedly wandered away earlier in the morning, prompting an urgent search by law enforcement and community members.
At approximately 9:08 a.m., a follow-up alert was sent stating that Silas had been located. Just minutes later, around 9:20 a.m., KSP released a formal statement confirming that Silas had been found deceased.
“KSP grieves with this family and the community,” the release said. Out of respect for the grieving family and the ongoing nature of the investigation, authorities have stated they are unable to provide further details at this time.
The loss of Silas Chearer has sent shockwaves through Hart County and beyond, with many expressing deep sorrow and support for the family during this unimaginable time. A young life, full of innocence and potential, has been tragically cut short, and the entire community now mourns together.
